The Life and Style of a Mother Runner with Scoliosis
I approach many things in life with this mindset: I’ll do my best and whatever happens, happens. Living with scoliosis and a fused spine for as long as I have taught me this—and it was also how I embarked on my breastfeeding journey when our daughter was born in late 2023.
July might’ve brought the heat (and humidity), but I closed it on a high note—it was my highest mileage month since last September! After months of striving for some semblance of consistency, this small-but-mighty milestone felt like a big win.
Whenever someone asks if I’m training for a race, my answer these past few years has been simple—and always the same: Nope, I’m training for life.” And I mean it. Fully. Happily. Without sarcasm or even a hint of longing.
My best friend gave me some advice recently: she told me not to downplay my awesomeness. For the last few years as I pursued my masters degree, the truth is, I often downplayed it.
