The Life and Style of a Mother Runner with Scoliosis
Last week marked the silver anniversary of my spinal fusion. Twenty-five years of stainless steel rods holding me upright. Twenty-five years of learning (and re-learning) what my body is capable of. Twenty-five years of wearing scar-revealing clothing with pride.
One question I get asked a lot is: can you recommend a running shoe for scoliosis? My response is always “yes, but…”
July might’ve brought the heat (and humidity), but I closed it on a high note—it was my highest mileage month since last September! After months of striving for some semblance of consistency, this small-but-mighty milestone felt like a big win.
Whenever someone asks if I’m training for a race, my answer these past few years has been simple—and always the same: Nope, I’m training for life.” And I mean it. Fully. Happily. Without sarcasm or even a hint of longing.
