Summer running temps are almost here and neo cayenne is the vibe. ✌️
I say “almost” since we live in the Northeast, which means that it’s still in the upper 50s, even in June. Not that I’m complaining.
But, as many of us runners know, once the heat of the summer kicks in it can be relentless, especially when coupled with humidity. The key is light-colored, light-weight clothing that’s breathable and sweat-wicking.
Lighting up the top of my summer running gear list is the Glycerin 22 and Spark 5” Shorts from Brooks Running.
I’ve been loving the new neo cayenne colorway from Brooks lately—and these shorts literally give an extra spark to my miles. And I feel good running in them, which is always a plus, especially while still navigating a postpartum body. The material is very breathable and I have yet to see the neo cayenne show sweat, despite the bright color (I haven’t run more than 30 minutes in them though). The side pockets are also a must-have for me—easy access to my phone is paramount.
As a longtime Ghost girly, I’m so surprised how much I’m enjoying the latest versions of the Glycerin, and the 22 is no exception. It’s light and cushy, but not too heavy. And did you see the little bit of neo cayenne detail on the side of the sole? They give of plushy Ghost vibes, which may be why I like them so much!
The latest update to the Sprint Free Tank is awesome! I have the previous two versions (which have been my go-to summer running tanks) and I love that this one flows a little more and isn’t so tight. The neo cayenne pattern isn’t for me though. Shocking, I know! but the solid white and black fit my style more.
Rounding out my summer run-fit:
- Dare Pocket Run Bra: This has always been a solid, supportive run bra. Scoliosis and fusion friends beware though: the back pocket isn’t easy to reach when your shoulder mobility is limited, lest you risk completely locking yourself out of your phone…not that I speak from experience or anything.
- Propel Mesh Hat: Overall, I like this hat, but the bungee cord-style adjusting makes it feel a little tighter on my head. The breathability is nice, and obviously the color is, well you know.
- Goodr Shades: Ever since I discovered Goodr back in 2016, they are the only glasses I wear running. Even on the hottest of sweaty summer days, they neither slip down my nose nor do they fog up. And the price point can’t be beat! Neither can the names (Electric Dinotopia Carnival for the win)!
If Brooks drops any other neo cayenne gear, you can bet that you’ll see it here (hey, that rhymes!)
