In high school, I was a mid-distance runner; anchoring the 3200m relay was my jam, along with a side of the 1600m or 800m in most meets. Long runs of 3 miles or more were intimidating. Cut to over 10+ years later and now my shortest runs are sometimes 3 miles. My then boyfriend, now husband (also a high school runner) suggested that we train for a half marathon…our first half was in January 2016 at Walt Disney World (you can read more about that here) and we haven’t looked back since. In the fall of 2018, we tackled our first 26.2: the New York City Marathon and just completed the 2023 WDW Marathon.

I’m an avid run/walker and frequently talk about it on Instagram, from how I use different intervals to the benefits of it for a mother runner with scoliosis and a fused spine.
